Vietnam and Meta: Unlocking High-Tech Potential for a Bright Digital Future

Vietnam Investment Forum Opens New Horizons for Innovation and Strategic Technology Cooperation

The Vietnam Investment Forum, themed “Vietnam – A Destination for Innovation and Strategic Technologies,” was held at Meta’s Singapore headquarters on the sidelines of SEMICON SEA 2025, opening new avenues for cooperation and reaffirming Vietnam’s position as an attractive destination for innovation and strategic technologies. Notably, the participation of Meta, one of the world’s leading technology giants, underscored Vietnam’s strong appeal and remarkable growth potential.

Mr. Rafael Frankel, Meta’s Director of Public Policy for the Asia–Pacific region, emphasized the company’s commitment to advancing innovation and developing an open data ecosystem in Vietnam through the ViGen project—an open-source Vietnamese language dataset. This initiative provides a solid foundation for Vietnam to develop advanced AI applications that serve the community and contribute to the digital era. Beyond this, Meta is expanding its manufacturing footprint in Vietnam, reflecting its long-term vision and confidence in the country’s dynamic investment environment and high-quality workforce. The decision to expand production of Quest 3S mixed reality devices in Vietnam—expected to create up to 1,000 jobs and contribute millions of U.S. dollars to the economy—clearly demonstrates Vietnam’s strategic importance in Meta’s global supply chain.

Mr. Vu Quoc Huy, Director of the National Innovation Center (NIC), noted that the forum was held at a pivotal moment, as Vietnam accelerates its shift toward a new growth model centered on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. He stressed that these pillars are top national priorities, critical to enhancing competitiveness and ensuring sustainable growth. Vietnam, he affirmed, is ready to collaborate with leading global technology corporations such as Meta, NVIDIA, and Marvell to further develop its innovation ecosystem.

This year’s forum focused on four key objectives: promoting Vietnam’s investment climate and high-tech ecosystem; introducing the Government’s priority policies in strategic sectors such as semiconductors, AI, digital technologies, and smart manufacturing; connecting businesses, research institutions, and international partners to foster technology transfer; and strengthening cooperation in training and developing semiconductor talent, with the aim of establishing a regional talent training center in Vietnam. The forum provided an important platform for Vietnam to showcase its technological potential, promote investment linkages, facilitate knowledge transfer, and expand international cooperation in the semiconductor sector—widely regarded as the backbone of the global digital economy. Strategic collaboration with global technology leaders such as Meta not only enhances Vietnam’s competitiveness but also drives sustainable growth, positioning the country as an emerging technology hub in Southeast Asia.
